Email a photo to info@tejslab.com and we refund or replace it, and we pay the postage to get the faulty one back to us. Once the tool has been run or the wax opened, the kit is yours. One kit per customer.

01 · FILE

Lines

Tempered glass, by hand, wet or dry. The layer lines come off here, and the part looks worse before it looks better. This is the step that decides whether anything after it is worth doing, and it is the one people quit on a minute early. Deep lines on a rough print, back a file with adhesive paper and take the height off first.

02 · POLISH

Mirror

Wax on a wheel, rotary tool running slow enough that the plastic never gets a chance to soften. Cotton, wool and felt reach into printed geometry a flat car pad would never touch. Keep the head moving, and the haze lifts until you catch your own hand moving across the part.

Three things that
decide the finish

Heat is the enemy

PLA starts going soft not far above a warm day. Park the wheel in one spot and you do not polish the part, you smear it. Keep the head moving, always, and let the part rest if it stops feeling cool.

Low speed wins

Every instinct says wind it up. Speed makes heat, and heat is the thing that ruins the surface. Start at the bottom of the range and only climb if nothing is happening.

Finish the cut first

The files have to fully remove the layer lines before the wax goes anywhere near the part. Wax over unfinished file work gives you a shiny surface with the lines still sitting in it.

  • Gaps, layer separation and under-extrusion. Those are print problems, not finish problems, and no amount of polishing fixes them

Ten. Cotton, wool and felt, on 3 mm shanks

Four tempered glass files, equivalent to 10,000 grit sandpaper. Flat, tapered, pointed and curved. Wet or dry. Rinse and brush them clean and the cut comes back, so they keep going. Each arrives in its own protective case, and each doubles as a sanding stick if you back it with adhesive paper
Wax
Included. A ceramic wax coating. This is the polishing medium, carried on the buffing wheels

PLA and cured resin. Stedi rate the files for plastic parts, wood and 3D resin generally; anything beyond PLA and resin is unconfirmed until Tej has run it.

Refills
Optional, off by default. $49 every six months for ten fresh wheels and a new tin of wax, first charge in six months. The tool and the files do not wear out the same way, so those are never in a refill. Cancel any time.

The full kit ships to 16 countries: Canada, the US, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, the UAE, Israel, South Africa, Mexico, Brazil and Chile. The glass files and the buffing wheels ship to those plus the EU. Checkout will not let you order something that cannot reach you.
Returns
30 days if unused, you pay return postage. Anything broken or faulty is refunded or replaced and we pay the postage both ways

The four in the full kit bought separately is $359; the kit is $279. The Creality build’s parts come to $246 against $199. Either way, buying one at a time costs more because each piece ships on its own.

The files and the wheels also ship to the EU, which the kit does not: the rotary tool and the wax cannot be sent there at present. If you are in the EU and already own a rotary tool, those two are still worth having.

Before you ask

Fair questions

Will it melt my print?
It can, if you hold the tip still or run it fast. That is the single mistake everyone makes on their first part. Low speed, constant movement, and stop if the surface feels warm. Practice on a failed print before you touch something you care about, and by the third part it stops being something you think about.
What does it work on?
PLA and cured resin, which are the ones we have actually run. Stedi rate the files for plastic parts, wood and 3D resin more broadly, so other rigid filaments should behave, but we would rather you hear that from him after he has done it than read it here as a promise. There is a fuller list up the page, including the things it will not do.
How long does a part take?
A palm-sized flat face runs a few minutes through the files and then the wax. Curves and fine detail take longer. Big flat panels are the easiest thing in the world. Deep internal corners are the hardest, and honestly some of them are not worth it.
Will it round my edges off?
It can, if you lean on it or dwell on a corner. Light pressure, keep moving, and stay off the edge itself until the faces are done. It is the most common mistake after heat, and it is entirely technique, not the tool.
What runs out, and what does a refill cost?
One thing really wears: the buffing wheels. They load up with plastic and stop cutting long before they look worn out. The wax goes the same way. It is the medium, so it gets used up. The glass files do not wear like that: tempered glass, rinsed under water with a soft brush, and the cut comes back. So a refill is wheels and wax, $49 for both. You can also buy either one on its own whenever you want. It is not bundled into the kit. Tick the box at checkout if you want a set every six months, and leave it alone if you would rather just order one when they stop biting. If you do turn it on, change the timing or cancel whenever you want from the link in any order email.
Shipping and returns

Shipping is included, with no minimum. The full kit reaches 16 countries; the glass files and the buffing wheels reach those plus the EU. The rotary tool and the wax cannot currently be sent into the EU at all. The supplier does not offer it, which is what the EU’s product safety rules did to a lot of cordless electrical goods. Checkout only offers the countries a given item can actually reach, so you will not be sold something that cannot arrive.

Changed your mind. Send the kit back inside 30 days and we refund it in full. You cover the return postage, and it has to come back unused: tool unrun, wax unopened. Once it has been on a part it is yours.

Broken or faulty. That one is on us. Email a photo to info@tejslab.com inside 30 days and we refund or replace it. We also pay the postage to get the faulty one back to us. It goes to the supplier, which is the only way a fault gets fixed at the source instead of shipping to the next person.
